Ice wine is excellent to be served. The cabinets are very interesting and chilled wine will be better.

Indeed sugar is a necessary component of fermentation.

As noted in the original post, there are fruit sugars naturally present in grapes.

To ensure no added sugar, drink American wines. The adding of sugar to the fermenting must is prohibited in the US. This process, called chaptalization, is legal in many wine making countries.

Never heard of it but it sounds AWFUL to me! Doesn't wine need sugar in order to ferment in the first place?

hi! i've recently heard about a sort of wine called Slender. it contains no sugar and is very cheap, though i do not know anything about its taste! hope this help you both

Dear Mer , it happens that i have 6 bottles of Merlot de Murafatlar ,1990 form the private cellar of the former dictator Ceausescu . I got one of them analysed at the Institue for Viticulture and the analysis revealed ZERO sugar content [ from about 25 varieties from 1.9 m/g sugar up to 78 g/l sugar ] . I prefer sweet wines so pleas let me know if you might need this little stash . regards
