Kendall Jackson 2006 Chardonnay

Lol Brom! I might get turned away then!
Not because of bringing KJ but because of the acting. :0

I like KJ wines. I enjoyed their Pinot like yourself Brom. In fact, I enjoyed a lot of KJ's stuff.

KJ probably has a million or more customers. I figured they weren't all wrong.

Although it is surprisingly big among the 'cognoscenti' to scorn what is popular with the mass market, I have never thought of mere popularity as a reason to disdain a wine.

I mentioned elsewhere here that I had a KJ Pinot Noir at Thanksgiving a couple of years ago and I thought that was a very nice wine.

I have only had K-J Chardonnay in the most convivial of circumstances. Hard not to enjoy a wine when a friend says "I know you like wine, so I brought this." Matter of fact (actually a matter of conjecture), I'm pretty sure I have brought K-J to a soiree or two myself.

Is Kendall-Jackson the Chardonnay you want to bring along next time you're invited to the annual supper of the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin? Probably not. (But if you want to try, ask me along - I'll help bluff our way in.)

Going to get turned away from my table? Again, probably not. 'Course, that will depend on how you are acting, Elron.

Had this one over the July 4th weekend and thought it was a well made Chardonnay for the $10 I paid.

Big,fresh lemon/citrus, flavors with real nice weight. Good acidityand balanced. Good buy!

Yes.

IMO, and in the O of many others, Burgundy whites are the ultimate expression of the Chardonnay grape.

Am I right thinking that white Burgundy is made with chardonnay grapes?

This Chardonnay is making my mouth water. The pairing seems like a winning combination. Lunch can't come too soon.

Actually I think it is the opposite - a base whichh accounts for its mouth-puckering astringency.

I'm not sure tannin is a base - however, I am sure that it is a phenolic compound. What that means in terms af acid or base, you may want to check with a science guy.

Thanks for the information regarding Tannins Brombordoo. I understand what gives a wine tannins now. So what is tannin, I assume it is a type of acid?

A great wine. Paired it with a Citrus and mustard salad dressing over butter lettuce. Incredible. The wine was excellent on its own but the combination left me speechless. The cost was a little over $10. I think the wine is a second label from Trefethen Vineyards. I believe their prime label Chardonnay sells for over $30. I give them 4 stars. try and buy.

Chardonnay

Yes, there can be tannins in white wine, but usually not a significant amount. Tannins come from the skins and seeds of the grape - since white wine is made from just the juice, not remaining in contact with the skins as red wine does, it has little opportunity to 'absorb' a lot of tannins.

tannins are also present in woods, including oak. A barrel aged chardonnay will pick up these tannins instead of grape tannins, es[pecially if it is aged in new barrels. this wood influence, very popular with American and Oz winemakers, may be what your friend is sensing.
