Rodney Strong 2003 Merlot

I'm not proud to say (but neither am I ashamed) that, as hot as Marlborough SBs have been over the last several years, I've hardly touched them, I've only had a couple and neither were this wine. $9 seems a terrific price for an NZ SB,

I 'reach out' a lot less than I used to. I get most of my Sauvignon Blanc in Bordeaux blends or from the Loire.

Yeah, I seen the ad(Star Ledger) again . This time I took it with me! Brom, I forget if you like Sauv. Blancs. I had the Nobilo Sauv. Blanc($9 at TW) and liked it. Have you ever tried theirs. Very different from usual Blancs that I have(usaully from CA).

Brom, it's the same one: Sonoma County. I thought I saw it in an ad in the paper for "Total Wines" for $12.77.

Did this wine have any other designation than "Merlot"?

I've had their Sonoma COunty Cab't Sauvignon several times, always enjoyable, but I recall I pay in the $20 range.

"Very nice wine at $13" Sweet.

We had this Merlot at dinner with some relatives. Very nice wine at $13. Had some smoke aroma and chocolate. Also, nice and chewy. It went really well with my tender veal and mushroom dish.

Another good winery from Chile is Casa Lapostolle. I've had their 03 Merlot and was amazed with the wine quality. I think the winery is owned by the great Granddaughter of the founder of Grand Marnier. Interesting? Anyway, try the wine.

Thought it was a interesting wine. I opened it and had a glass and it seemed not as well balanced as I thought it would. After an hour I had another glass and noticed that the taste had improved and it seemed more even. I recommend decanting it and letting it sit a while. ***
