Wayne and Milena share a laugh on the crushpad
Daveste' Vineyards' is continually looking for ways to improve our wines. And in preparation for harvest this year, our primary objective was to improve our ability to gently handle the delicate fruit. So we made significant changes to our harvest crush facility and operations. The crush pad was expanded to include a lower level with a 9-foot drop, enabling us to use gravity to move grape must from our new crusher-destemmer to the fermenting bins or press. Additionally, a custom-designed sorting table was incorporated to ensure that non-grape material was removed prior to fermentation. The new equipment and procedures worked beautifully, and we anticipate even better quality wine as a result. We would like to warmly thank our energetic and dedicated volunteer crew: Wayne, Sasha, Wendy, Milena, Jack, Mira, Janet, Vern and Harris. We could not have done it without you all!
