Poised to Leverage Supreme Court Decision on Wine Shipments
Santa
Fe, NM - May 18, 2005 - The Supreme Court's decision to allow
out-of-state wineries consistent access to wine consumers was
greeted enthusiastically by The WineWeb. The Web site, WineWeb.com,
which provides consumers access to buy wine online direct from
wineries and from wine merchants, saw traffic to the site double
on Monday, the day of the Court's decision. Wineries can use The
WineWeb's services to promote their wines to consumers in states
affected by the ruling.
"The
WineWeb's destination-focused architecture makes it convenient
for wineries to provide online ordering of their wines, and to
expand into additional states as they open their borders",
states Ron Kreutzer, WineWeb's founder. "This is great news
for small and medium-sized wineries who have been ignored by the
major wine wholesalers."
With
information on over 22,000 wineries integrated into the Web site,
visitors use The WineWeb as a wine search engine. Wineries can
economically add e-commerce functions to their Web site and gain
exposure to The WineWeb's visitors. Consumers are able to find
these wines, then buy these wines online.
