Baarrooka is a 640 acre (256 hectare) property in the picturesque Strathbogie Ranges in North Central Victoria. It is located 180 kilometres and an easy 2 hours drive up the Hume Freeway from Melbourne.
Originally sheep and cattle grazing land, the property has been planted with a variety of red and white grape varieties suited to the high elevations and cool climate of the region. Our aim is to handcraft small quantities of premium quality wine which reflects the soils and climate of the property and the conditions of the season. When we do not consider the quality of the grapes to be good enough, we will not produce a vintage of that wine.
The word 'Baarrooka' is an Aboriginal word meaning 'like a duck resting on water'. Ducks seem to have been waddling in and out of our lives since we met, so the name is very appropriate.
The WineWeb e-Marketplace maintains a directory of over 35,000 wineries from around the world and has over 200,000 wines available for sale online, direct from the wineries and from wine merchants.
